ABOUT US

WELCOME TO ZION!

We are pleased to welcome all who come to Zion to worship.  Your presence is a blessing.  May you find joy, encouragement and hope as we praise God together.

OUR VISION FOR MISSION

Our vision at Zion Lutheran Church is for all people to experience a growing relationship with God in Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit.  To put this vision into action, our mission is to provide the opportunity for multiple choices of worship and educational experiences and to provide opportunities for evangelism and service to others.

THE SACRAMENT OF HOLY COMMUNION

The Sacrament of Holy Communion in the Lutheran church is observed in the faith that Jesus Christ is truly present and that He as Host and Savior mediates himself to the penitent believer through the consecrated elements of bread and wine.  Here he gives Himself--with His Grace, Forgiveness and Peace.  Baptized Christians who possess this faith are cordially welcome to commune.  Communion is offered at all services.

ZION IS A MEMBER OF THE NORTH AMERICAN LUTHERAN CHURCH (NALC) AND LUTHERAN CORE

NEW PAMPHLETS AVAILABLE FROM THE AMERICAN LUTHERAN PUBLICITY BUREAU

There are pamphlets in the Narthex, which present some of the basic beliefs of the Lutheran Church.  Topics include the history of the Lutheran church, Lutheran worship, ecumenism and several pamphlets on ethical/moral issues.  If you would like to know more about the Lutheran church and its beliefs and practices, this is a great place to start!

CELEBRATING 210 YEARS OF FAITH

Over 200 years ago the German immigrants to western Pennsylvania built homes in which to live and churches in which to worship.  Zion Lutheran Church was one of the churches these immigrants built.  Today we sing in English many of the same hymns they sang in German.  We also share the same Bible, sacraments, creeds and catechism.  We treasure the past, but Zion is not a museum for faith.  Zion is a vibrant center of worship.  It is a place where many people from diverse backgrounds are growing in their relationship with God and learning what it means to follow Jesus today.

Zion is a congregation that seeks above all things to be faithful to the Lord of the Church, Jesus Christ, to the Bible as God's word written, and to the catholic traditions of faith summarized in the great creeds--the Apostles' Creed, the Nicene Creed and the Athanasian Creed.
